Bajaj Auto is setting the stage for the launch of a fresh variant of the Chetak electric scooter in India on January 9 in India. This will be the first model of the auto manufacturer to be launched in the new year. The brand has maintained secrecy about the details of the new electric two-wheeler. However, the spy shots of the new Bajaj Chetak Premium have leaked online revealing the design of the model. It is to be noted that this model is the major contender of the brand in its segment.

Before the upcoming model, the brand had launched the Urbane variant of the Bajaj Chetak. Once the Premium variant is launched the Urbane will be sold as the base variant of the model. The Premium variant will get multiple new upgrades over the outgoing models. Some of the features include a new TFT instrument cluster which will be a big upgrade over the LCD in the base variant.

The addition of the new cluster will make the electric scooter better by adding features like Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Furthermore, the scooter is expected to get features like a remote immobiliser, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), call and SMS notifications with music. If reports are to be trusted the scooter will get an increased under-seat storage capacity.

The new electric scooter is expected to get a larger 3.2 kWh battery pack, which is predicted to offer a range of 127 km on a single charge. Compared to the current 2.88 kWh battery pack, which has a stated range of 113 km on a single charge, this will be a significant improvement. The information from the leaked document indicates that charging an electric two-wheeler from 0 to 100 percent will take 4 hours and 30 minutes. With a top speed of 73 kmph, it will surpass the outgoing version’s top speed of 63 kmph.
