Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated the largest event in the Civil Aviation sector in Asia – Wings India 24 – at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad. Spanning across commercial, general, and business aviation, the theme for the show is “Connecting India to the World in Amrit Kaal: Setting the Stage for India Civil Aviation @2047”.

At the event, Scindia also officially inaugurated the Air India’s first Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The new Airbus A350 is not only Air India’s first A350, but also India’s first A350. Further, the wide body plane gets the Air India’s new livery, which was recently unveiled as part of its transformation journey under the Tata Group.
Inaugurating the aircraft, Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “The aviation landscape in India is on an upward trajectory, marking milestones like never before! Delighted to unveil the long-haul, wide-body Airbus A350 of @airindia at #WingsIndia2024.”

“This state-of-art aircraft will elevate travel experience of passengers, enable fuel efficiency and provide a significant uplift to Indian Aviation in both domestic and international sectors. Indeed, a new dawn for the Indian aviation sector,” he added.
The Air India’s newest aircraft is the first of the 470 aircraft that were ordered by the airline not so long ago. The order comprises 250 planes from Boeing and 220 planes from Airbus, a mix of narrow and wide body planes, including 10 Airbus A350 planes.
Air India recently announced to open bookings for the Airbus A350 operations in the domestic sector. The brand-new aircraft, which is India’s first, will start commercial service from 22nd January 2024.
Later, the plane will be deployed on the international sectors, though it hasn’t been confirmed which routes will the Airbus A350 fly to initially.
