Amidst the uproar in Greater Noida West over the delay in approval of the Aqua Line Extension in the region, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), in its 38th board meeting, approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for another metro line in the city. The new line will join the proposed Sector 142 with the Botanical Garden Metro section.
Currently Noida region has two metro lines, enabling passengers to move from North to South and East to West in the city. While the DMRC’s Blue Line connects Rajiv Gandhi Metro Station With Electronic City Metro, passing through the city, the NMRC’s Aqua Line connects Sector 51 Metro with Depot Station in Greater Noida.

Now the new line, which will be built by NMRC will provide direct connectivity to Delhi Airport (Terminal-1) via the Magenta line of the Delhi Metro. As per the latest updates, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had prepared the DPR and handed over to the NMRC, Noida Authority, and Greater Noida Authority before the approval.
New Noida Metro Route
The new Line will comprise of total eight new metro stations, which stretches to approximately 11.56 kilometers. Once operational, metro trains running on this route will connect the Botanical Garden and Sector 142 of Aqua Line, providing a convenient option for commuters from Delhi to Greater Noida.
The new route is said to enhance connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi. Additionally, the Magenta Line will directly connect to Indira Gandhi International Airport, thus opening connectivity to New Delhi and Anand Vihar Railway Stations via the Blue Line.
New Noida Metro: Stations
As per the plan, the metro stations on the new line are expected to cover the following sectors/areas:
Botanical Garden
Noida Sector 44

Greater Noida West Metro
On the other hand, the residents of the sub urban region of Greater Noida West, earlier known as Noida Extension are still awaiting an update on the delayed extension of the Aqua Line metro to the region. The Sector 51 – Sector 2 Greater Noida West metro line was shut down by the Ministry of Urban Develepmont.
Rather, a new DPR was asked to be presented, connecting Sector 61 of DMRC to the Sector 2, in the phase 1 of the line. NMRC is currently working on the proposed new line.
