As the city of Ayodhya is getting ready for the momentous Ram Mandir consecration ceremony, the Uttar Pradesh government is working day and night to make the event successful and uneventful. One concern of the administration is to provide transportation services to lakhs of devotees who will throng the city on or before January 22, 2024. An estimated 2 million devotees will come to Ayodhya from mid-January to end of February.
Following the same, Director of Urban Transport has selected Greencell Mobility as a partner to deploy 150 intra-city electric buses. This fleet will provide intra-city transportation service to devotees within Ayodhya, including the day of the ceremony and the surrounding days, marking a significant period for pilgrims and believers.

These buses were flagged off in Ayodhya by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath on January 14, 2024. The use of these 150 electric buses will significantly reduce carbon footprint by avoiding approximately over 600 tonnes of tailpipe emissions per month.
GreenCell Mobility has deployed over 700 buses in UP, saving over 22,000 tonnes of tailpipe emissions annually. Use of electric buses during this event will provide to large-scale public transport needs, while being green and pollution free.

Recently, Ride hailing app Uber launched its EV auto rickshaw service in Ayodhya ahead of Pran Prashistha in the Ram Mandir on January 22, 2024. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the electric three-wheeler service in the temple town of Ayodhya under its popular category, Uber Auto. The brand further said they will launch UberGo and Intercity in the later months.
