SWITCH Mobility Ltd (‘SWITCH’), the manufacturer of carbon neutral electric buses and light commercial vehicles delivered two open-roof SWITCH EiV 22, also called the double-decker electric bus to Kerala State Road Transport Corporation. The SWITCH EiV 22 open-roof buses will operate between tourist spots in Thiruvananthapuram, promoting sustainable tourism and elevating the overall travel experience.

Transport Minister Shri K. B. Ganesh Kumar personally drove the open-roof SWITCH EiV 22 double-decker e-bus, inaugurating the electric bus service in the city. These buses painted in distinctive shades of blue and brown are designed, developed, and manufactured by SWITCH, have been procured by KSRTC and will be operated by KSRTC SWIFT – an arm of KSRTC formed for operating long-distance buses.
Launched in August 2022, the EiV 22 electric double decker bus features new-age technology, extra-wide doors, and an emergency exit for safety compliance. Accommodating 65 seated passengers (35 passengers on the upper deck and 30 passengers on the lower deck of the bus), it provides premium interiors with lightweight cushions.
The buses will be connected via Proprietary solutions like ‘SWITCH iON’ enabling remote diagnostics and real-time monitoring. The 231 kWh battery pack, with advanced lithium-ion NMC chemistry, provides a 250 km range per day. The SWITCH EiV 22 represents a shift in sustainable urban transportation and tourism.
