Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on January 12, 2024 to inaugurate, and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than Rs 30,500 crore in Maharashtra. Among these is the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri – Nhava Sheva Atal Setu or the Mumbai Trans Tarbour link (MTHL). The foundation stone of the bridge was also laid by the Prime Minister in December, 2016.

About Mumbai Trans Tarbour link
PM Modi will ianugurate the Mumbai Transharbour link (MTHL), now named ‘Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri – Nhava Sheva Atal Setu’ tomorrow. Atal Setu has been constructed at a total cost of more than Rs 17,840 crore. It is about 21.8 km long 6-lane bridge having about 16.5 km length over sea and about 5.5 km on the land.
The bridge now holds the record as it becomes the longest bridge in India and also the longest sea bridge in India. The bridge aims to provide faster connectivity between Navi Mumbai and Mumbai. This in turns means better connectivity between Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport.
Further Atal Setu will also reduce the travel time from Mumbai to Pune, Goa and South India. It will also improve connectivity between Mumbai Port & Jawaharlal Nehru Port. The six-lane highway will have AI cameras installed and will be able to identify car breakdowns and notify the control room of them.

Mumbai Trans Harbour Link: Toll
The Atal Seti will have a toll price of Rs 250 for a single way fare. Furthermore, frequent visitors will have discounted return passes for one-way fares. The daily pass for India’s longest sea bridge will be 2.5 times of the daily fare, while the monthly pass will be 50 times of the one-way fare.
Navi Mumbai Tunnel
Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the underground road tunnel connecting Eastern Freeway’s Orange Gate to Marine Drive. The 9.2 Km tunnel will be built at a cost of more than Rs 8700 crore and will be a significant infrastructure development in Mumbai which will reduce travel time between Orange Gate and Marine Drive.
