Tata Tiago, Tigor CNG Technology
Tata Motors has incorporated Twin Cylinder CNG technology that free up boot space in CNG cars, which is the biggest problem with the alternative fuel vehicle. These iCNG AMT cars are powered with the the same 1.2-Litre Revotron Engine as the manual variants.
The Tata Tiago and Tigor iCNG cylinders are placed below the luggage areas. It also gets Single Advanced ECU, against a 1st in the industry for seamless shifting between petrol and CNG modes. Both the cars start directly in the CNG mode, this also saves fuel every time you start the car.
The Tata Tiago iCNG AMT and Tigor iCNG AMT come with a Micro Switch to keep car switched off at time of refuelling, enhancing the safety of the vehicles. The micro switch turns off the ignition as soon as the fuel lid is opened and keeps it off until the lid is securely closed.
Further, it gets Thermal Incident Protection which immediately cuts off CNG supply to the engine in case of a thermal incident and releases gas from the cylinder directly into the atmosphere through a special nozzle as a measure of safety.
As per Tata Motors, they have used advanced aaterials in iCNG kit to prevent leakage and has been tested across temperatures and pressures to prevent any gas leaks. There’s a Leak Detection Feature which immediately detects a gas leak and switches from CNG to petrol mode.
Amit Kamat, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. said, “CNG, known for its widespread availability and accessibility, has garnered considerable acceptance over the years. Tata Motors has revolutionized the CNG segment with various industry firsts like the twin-cylinder technology (helping provide no compromise boot space), high end feature choices and direct start in CNG. In the past 24 months we have sold more than 1.3 lakh CNG vehicles. In our effort to further drive volumes and provide our customers with the best, we are now proudly launching the Tiago and the Tigor iCNG in AMT—Introducing India to its 1st AMT CNG Cars.
