Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw recently shared a new video on social media showing a train traversing through the scenic beauty of Jammu & Kashmir. It is to be noted that, presently, the Basantgarh Valley in Udhampur, in Mahore of Reasi district, and Gulmarg are enjoying white scenery with the land covered in snow after the season’s first snowfall. The video of the train shared by the Union Minister shows the train passing through a track on this route.

Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the video with the caption “Snowfall in the valleys of Kashmir!” (English translation). The video shows a train cutting through the snow-covered tracks in the Baramulla-Banihal section. The short video clip shared by the minister is gaining a lot of traction on social media and has gained over 326 thousand views and continues to get more.
Meanwhile, over 2 thousand people have liked the video and many commented on the post in appreciation. Praising the scenery one of the social media users said, “Mesmerising beauty.” While many others resonated with the thought and flooded the comment section with praises.

At the same, reports have surfaced of road damage on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway caused by snowfall, leading to closures. The Mughal Road, which connects Poonch and Rajouri districts to Srinagar, had to shut down for vehicular traffic due to heavy snowfall during the winter.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy rain and snowfall in the mountain regions of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand in the coming days due to a western disturbance, which may also affect plain areas like Haryana, Delhi NCR, and Uttar Pradesh.
