Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Soon after the inauguration first flight that took off from Delhi landed at the airport. The inaugural flight operated by IndiGo Airlines took off from the national capital after a speech from the pilot Ashutosh Shekhar who chanted “Jai Shri Ram” on the aircraft during the public announcement.
The video of the speech is now going viral on the internet. During his speech, Ashutosh Shekhar said that he felt fortunate that the airline trusted him with the job of executing the first flight to Ayodhya, right after the inauguration event by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the speech, he also introduced the rest of the airline staff along with his crew and cabin in-charge.
“I am fortunate that IndiGo gave me the opportunity to command a flight of this significance…We hope your journey will be good and happy. We will give you more updates. Jai Shri Ram,” The pilot said in his speech.

After his speech ended the passengers present on the aircraft cheered with chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram.’ As per reports, passengers later recited Hanuman Chalisa during the flight.
Ayodhya Airport
The construction of the first phase of the new Ayodhya Airport has been at a cost of over ₹1,450 crore. The airport’s terminal building will be 6500 square metres in size and is prepared to handle roughly 10 lakh passengers a year. The building’s front will have a representation of the architecture of the future Ram temple.
As to the official announcement, the terminal building’s interiors are adorned with murals, paintings, and artwork that portrays the life of Lord Ram. Numerous sustainable features, including an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, fountain-filled landscaping, sewage and water treatment plants, solar power plants, and many more, are also present in the Ayodhya airport terminal building.
