The picture of the electric SUV was shared by Ashneer Grover on social media with the captions saying, “World’s first ‘cross – breed’ Tesla ! Some Delhi boy literally ‘built his dream’ in Karol Bagh.”

The vehicle is designed based on the brand’s BYD e-Platform 3.0, which is meant for all-electric vehicles. The EV comes with a 60.48 kWh battery pack that powers a 150 kW motor and gives the vehicle a peak torque of 310 Nm. The electric SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 7.3 seconds and has an ARAI-certified range of 521 km.
After the picture went viral, multiple social media users had a funny reaction to the video. It is worth noting that the BYD Atto 3 is one of the major models of the Chinese brand and is sold in India along with more than 50 countries worldwide, including Singapore, Sweden, Israel, Thailand, Brazil, and New Zealand.
On the other hand, Tesla, the world’s largest and most valued electric car maker is not retailing its EVs in India. The company has long been planning to enter the world’s fourth largest car market.
However, high import duties on import vehicles has stopped Elon Musk from entering India. Further, Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways has multiple times stated that in order for Tesla to avail rebate on duties, they have to make EVs in India.
Tesla is currently assembling its vehicles in China and planned to export Chinese made cars to India, but has indefinitely stopped its India plans.
