JK Lakshmi Cement has deployed more than 70 electric vehicles across key logistics routes in Rajasthan and Gujarat, achieving nearly 100% EV-based clinker dispatches between Sirohi and Kalol.

JK Lakshmi Cement has set a target of expanding its electric vehicle (EV) fleet to 120 vehicles by March 2027, building on its existing deployment of more than 70 EVs across key transportation routes in Rajasthan and Gujarat. The company has achieved nearly 100% electric vehicle-based clinker dispatches from its Sirohi plant in Rajasthan to its Kalol Grinding Unit in Gujarat, marking a significant step in its efforts to decarbonise long-haul logistics.

Announced on October 27, 2026, the initiative forms part of the cement manufacturer’s broader sustainability strategy, which focuses on reducing emissions and improving operational efficiency across its logistics network.

The company is also using electric vehicles to connect its Sirohi facility with the Palanpur Unit and Surat Grinding Unit, extending the use of cleaner transportation across its regional operations.

EV Deployment Expands Across Rajasthan and GujaratEV-2

JK Lakshmi Cement has deployed over 70 electric vehicles on routes linking its Sirohi plant with its grinding units in Gujarat. The company is working with specialised EV logistics providers SwitchLabs and Billion E to support these transportation operations.

The transition to electric vehicles for clinker dispatches on the Sirohi–Kalol route represents the company’s most significant reported milestone in its current EV deployment programme. By expanding electric mobility beyond conventional urban delivery applications, the initiative demonstrates the potential for EVs in the movement of industrial materials over longer distances.

The planned expansion to 120 vehicles by March 2027 is expected to extend the company’s electric logistics network across its key routes. However, the company has not disclosed the individual vehicle specifications, total investment or the expected emissions reduction from the proposed fleet expansion.

Decarbonisation Remains a Key PriorityEV-1

Vinita Singhania, Chairperson and Managing Director of JK Lakshmi Cement, said the company was integrating sustainable practices across its operations while maintaining a focus on long-term business efficiency.

She described the shift to EV-based clinker dispatches between Sirohi and Kalol as an important milestone in the company’s efforts to scale sustainable logistics. The existing fleet of more than 70 electric vehicles, she added, represents tangible progress towards adopting cleaner transportation solutions.

The EV programme is part of JK Lakshmi Cement’s green logistics and decarbonisation strategy, which aims to improve operational efficiency and reduce emissions across its value chain.

The company intends to combine cleaner transportation with other sustainability-focused initiatives as it works towards its long-term ambition of achieving net-zero emissions by 2047.

JK Lakshmi Cement’s Capacity Expansion Plans

JK Lakshmi Cement operates integrated cement plants at Jaykaypuram in Rajasthan, Dabok in Rajasthan and Ahiwara in Chhattisgarh. Its grinding units are located at Kalol and Surat in Gujarat, Jhamri in Haryana and Cuttack in Odisha.

The company currently has an operating cement capacity of around 18 million tonnes per annum and aims to increase its capacity to 30 million tonnes by 2030.

With its EV fleet expansion, JK Lakshmi Cement is seeking to align its logistics operations with its wider sustainability objectives while supporting the transportation requirements of its manufacturing and grinding facilities. The planned increase from more than 70 vehicles to 120 by March 2027 will be the next stage in its transition towards cleaner freight movement.
