Jeep India has introduced a 9-speed automatic transmission in the entry-level Compass Sport, powered by a 170 HP diesel engine, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026.
Jeep India has launched the Compass Sport 9AT in the Indian market at an introductory price of Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant brings a 9-speed automatic transmission to the entry-level Compass range for the first time, making it the most affordable automatic version of the SUV offered by the brand in India.
The Jeep Compass Sport 9AT is powered by the familiar 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine, which produces 170 HP and 350 Nm of torque. The new powertrain combination is aimed at buyers seeking the convenience of an automatic transmission without moving to a higher variant of the premium SUV.
Customer deliveries are scheduled to commence from the second week of November 2026 through Jeep dealerships and Stellantis Brand Houses across India.
Jeep Compass Sport 9AT: Engine and Transmission
The new Compass Sport pairs the 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo-diesel engine with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The transmission is designed to deliver smooth and effortless performance in everyday driving conditions.
With this introduction, Jeep has expanded the availability of an automatic gearbox to the entry-level Compass variant. The broader Compass portfolio continues to offer manual and automatic transmission options, alongside 2WD and 4WD configurations, depending on the variant.
Kumar Priyesh, Business Head and Director, Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said the addition of the automatic transmission to the Compass Sport would make the SUV’s design, capability and driving experience more accessible to customers.
Features and Safety Equipment
Despite being positioned as the entry-level automatic variant, the Compass Sport 9AT comes with a range of safety, technology and convenience features.
The SUV is equipped with six airbags, Auto Hold and Cruise Control. It also gets a 21.3 cm Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Other features include steering-mounted controls and electrically adjustable door mirrors.
Jeep has retained its Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) suspension, which is designed to offer a composed ride across different road conditions. The Dynamic Steering Torque (DST) system is also part of the package, aiming to provide responsive handling and greater driving confidence.
These features continue to be part of the Compass Sport’s appeal, combining everyday usability with the driving characteristics associated with the Jeep brand.
Optional Accessory Pack Priced at Rs 29,900
Customers buying the new Compass Sport 9AT can also opt for an accessory pack priced at Rs 29,900. The package includes ambient lighting, a dashcam with predictive safety features, Swoosh decals, all-weather floor mats and mud flaps.
The optional accessories are intended to enhance the SUV’s styling, convenience and practicality for daily use.

The Jeep Compass Sport 9AT is priced at Rs 21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with deliveries expected to begin in the second week of November 2026. The launch expands the Compass range by offering an automatic transmission at a lower entry price within the lineup.
