Hyundai’s new SUV gets a 115 PS petrol engine, generative AI voice assistant, Level 2 Pro ADAS and dual 12.3-inch displays.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has launched the Hyundai BAYON in India at a starting ex-showroom price of Rs 9.99 lakh. The company describes the new model as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, combining connected technology, advanced driver assistance systems and a 1.5-litre petrol engine. Manufactured in India, the BAYON will also be exported to more than 50 international markets.
One of the key highlights is Hyundai’s first SUV in India to feature a built-in generative AI voice assistant, alongside the company’s SmartSense Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
Hyundai BAYON Gets Generative AI and Dual Displays
The BAYON introduces a generative AI voice assistant featuring intelligence by Perplexity and voice AI powered by SoundHound AI. The system enables natural-language interactions and can provide information on travel itineraries, weather, hotels, restaurants, news and sports. The assistant supports English, and Hyundai advises users to independently verify the information it provides.
The SUV also features Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), accelerated by NVIDIA technology, with dual 12.3-inch curved panoramic displays. Other connectivity features include more than 70 Bluelink connected functions, over-the-air updates for up to 19 controllers and more than 500 embedded voice commands.
The equipment list includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose premium sound system and interfaces supporting 10 regional and two international languages. Hyundai is offering three years of complimentary Bluelink subscription.
1.5-Litre Petrol Engine With Manual and iVT Options
Powering the Hyundai BAYON is a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine with a displacement of 1,497 cc. It produces 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and 143.8 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm.
