New special edition gets black exterior accents, ambient lighting, dual-tone upholstery and a tyre pressure monitoring system; bookings open on October 12

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has introduced the 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition in India, with prices starting at ₹36.51 lakh (ex-showroom). The new edition adds distinctive styling elements and convenience features to Toyota’s popular full-size SUV while retaining its established design and capabilities.

The Fortuner Leader Edition is available in two variants: the 4×2 manual transmission (MT), priced at ₹36.51 lakh, and the 4×2 automatic transmission (AT), priced at ₹38.72 lakh. Bookings will open on October 12, 2026, through Toyota’s official website and authorised dealerships.

The special edition is aimed at customers seeking a more distinctive appearance and a premium cabin experience, with additional styling details setting it apart from the standard Fortuner.

Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition gets black styling elements

The 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition features several exterior enhancements, including a redesigned signature front grille, black rear door garnish, gloss-black alloy wheels with matching hub caps and a black roof treatment.

Other styling additions include a black-finished antenna, body-side mouldings and an exclusive hood emblem. The combination of black accents and the SUV’s muscular proportions gives the Leader Edition a more distinctive appearance.

Toyota will offer the new edition in three colour options: Super White, Platinum White Pearl and Attitude Black.

Ambient lighting and dual-tone cabin

Inside, the Fortuner Leader Edition receives dual-tone black and maroon seat upholstery, complemented by matching black-and-maroon door trims. The cabin also gets ambient lighting and illuminated scuff plates, adding to its premium appeal.

Convenience features include auto-folding outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs) and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). These additions are intended to enhance everyday usability and provide drivers with greater convenience and confidence.

Toyota has not announced changes to the engine or mechanical specifications as part of the Leader Edition update.

Fortuner crosses 3.3 lakh sales in India

The Fortuner has established a strong position in India’s premium SUV segment, with Toyota stating that cumulative sales have crossed 3.3 lakh units. Its reputation for road presence, robust performance, resale value and off-road capability has helped it remain a popular choice among premium SUV buyers.

Toyota is also offering flexible finance options, including funding plans of up to seven years and Toyota Smart Balloon Finance. Ownership benefits include five years of complimentary roadside assistance and a standard warranty of three years or 1,00,000 km, extendable to five years or 2,20,000 km, along with the Toyota Smiles Plus service programme.

With the 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition, Toyota is looking to refresh the SUV’s appeal through cosmetic and convenience upgrades rather than a comprehensive redesign.
