Kia India has expanded its Green Workshop network to 151 facilities, combining solar power, water conservation and responsible waste management across its aftersales operations.

Kia India has surpassed 150 Green Workshops across its nationwide dealer network, with solar energy systems installed at 151 facilities and a cumulative installed capacity of approximately 11.8 MW. The milestone marks another step in the automaker’s efforts to integrate sustainable practices into its aftersales operations and customer service network.

Announced on October 22, 2026, the initiative combines renewable energy adoption with water conservation, energy-efficient infrastructure and responsible waste management. Kia India added 45 Green Workshops during 2026, taking the total network from 106 facilities in 2025 to 151.

Kia Green Workshop Network Expands Across Indiakia-ev

Kia India began scaling its Green Workshop initiative in 2023, when the network comprised three facilities with a cumulative solar capacity of 165 kW. The programme expanded significantly over the following years as more dealerships adopted renewable energy and environmentally responsible operating practices.

Year Green Workshops Installed solar capacity
2023 3 165 kW
2024 60 5,494 kW
2025 106 8,442 kW
2026 151 11,885 kW

The current network includes 53 facilities in North India, 43 in South India, 45 in West India and 10 in East India. The expansion reflects Kia India’s efforts to incorporate sustainability measures across its growing aftersales footprint.

According to Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Kia India, the initiative represents a broader commitment spanning the company’s products, operations and customer ownership journey. He also highlighted the role of dealer partners in expanding the network while maintaining the quality and convenience expected by customers.

Water Conservation and Responsible Waste Management

Water conservation is a key component of the Green Workshop framework. Kia India has prescribed steam washing or dry washing across its facilities to reduce water consumption during vehicle cleaning.

Dry washing eliminates water use in the washing process, while steam washing typically requires around 4–5 litres of water per vehicle. This compares with an estimated 100–120 litres for conventional washing, although actual consumption varies depending on the method and operating conditions.

The initiative also focuses on managing used engine oil generated during vehicle servicing. Kia India reported that approximately 2,269 barrels of used engine oil were handled during 2026, supporting its emphasis on responsible waste management.

Other measures incorporated into the framework include rapid wash facilities, natural lighting, effluent treatment plants, waterless urinals, motion-sensor-controlled lights and doors, and colour-coded waste segregation bins. Water-based paints are also used in bodyshop repair operations where applicable.

Sustainability Across Customer Service Operations

The Green Workshop initiative aims to bring environmental considerations into routine vehicle maintenance and repair operations. For customers, these facilities combine Kia’s service standards with operating practices intended to improve resource efficiency.

The programme also aligns with the company’s broader effort to strengthen its nationwide aftersales network. Kia India currently has 910 touchpoints across 419 cities, giving the Green Workshop initiative a wide platform for further integration across its service operations.

With solar capacity now approaching 11.9 MW across 151 facilities, Kia India has expanded the initiative considerably since its initial rollout in 2023. The latest milestone highlights the growing role of renewable energy, water conservation and waste management in the company’s dealership operations.
