The new Renault Duster Strong Hybrid delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 km/l. According to the company, the SUV can complete up to 80% of city driving in pure electric mode under suitable conditions, helping reduce petrol consumption in stop-and-go traffic.

The battery recharges automatically through energy recovery during braking and deceleration, eliminating the need for an external charging connection. Renault also claims fuel savings of up to 29% compared with diesel vehicles.

The hybrid system incorporates a Formula 1-inspired multi-mode automatic gearbox featuring two electric gears and four petrol-engine gears. Renault says the arrangement enables 15 different drive combinations to optimise energy use and deliver smoother acceleration.

Additional features include B Mode for increased regenerative braking and an E-Save mode that helps preserve battery charge for later use.

New Duster Hybrid Gets Updated Interior and Features

The Duster Strong Hybrid retains the SUV’s rugged styling while adding an illuminated DUSTER logo integrated into the front grille. Other exterior features include full-LED headlamps, LED tail-lamps, an LED rear light bar and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the Emotion variant gets new dune-brown leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats and six-way power-adjustable front seats. The Techno variant receives desert-beige semi-leatherette upholstery.

The SUV also features a 10.1-inch OpenR Link multimedia system, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, a panoramic sunroof, an electrically powered tailgate, dual-zone automatic climate control and wireless smartphone charging.

The Duster offers a ground clearance of 212 mm, a boot capacity of 372 litres under the parcel shelf and up to 544 litres when loaded to the roof.

Renault Forever Protect 360 Ownership Package

Alongside the launch, Renault has introduced the Forever Protect 360 ownership programme, starting at ₹89,900. The package includes three years of zero-depreciation motor insurance, a three-year/30,000 km annual maintenance contract and an assured resale value of 60% after three years.

The hybrid battery comes with a warranty of eight years or 1,60,000 km, while the broader Renault Forever programme offers a maximum warranty of seven years or 1,50,000 km, subject to applicable terms.

With the new Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160, Renault is targeting SUV buyers seeking diesel-like fuel efficiency with the refinement and electric-driving capability of a strong hybrid, while retaining the convenience of conventional petrol refuelling.
