MoU covers 46-series NCM cylindrical battery cells for indiGOtech’s upcoming Flow Ride and Flow Cargo commercial EVs from 2027 to 2030

LG Energy Solution has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based commercial electric vehicle startup indiGOtech to explore battery supply and technology collaboration for electric commercial vans. The partnership is focused on supporting the next generation of commercial EVs for applications including logistics, last-mile delivery and ride-hailing.

Under the proposed agreement, LG Energy Solution will work towards supplying 46-series NCM cylindrical battery cells to indiGOtech between 2027 and 2030. The batteries are intended for indiGOtech’s upcoming Flow Ride and Flow Cargo electric vehicles.

indiGOtech, headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts, is developing electric commercial van platforms specifically for the North American market. Its broader strategy involves combining electric vehicles with charging infrastructure and digital services to create an integrated commercial mobility ecosystem.

Focus on range and faster charging

The two companies will also collaborate on vehicle-battery integration and performance verification. As part of the partnership, they intend to explore ways of improving the overall performance of the electric vans, including opportunities to extend driving range and reduce charging times.

LG Energy Solution said its 46-series NCM cylindrical battery technology offers high energy density and rapid charging capabilities. The company sees the collaboration with indiGOtech as an opportunity to expand its presence in the US commercial vehicle market, particularly across logistics, last-mile delivery and ride-hailing applications.

Will Graylin, Chairman and CEO of indiGOtech, said the company believes urban ride-hailing and delivery services need to electrify and automate at scale. He also highlighted charging infrastructure limitations as one of the challenges currently affecting commercial EV adoption.

LG targets growing commercial EV market

The partnership comes as LG Energy Solution looks to expand its customer base for its 46-series cylindrical batteries. According to the company, cylindrical battery shipments increased 1.5 times year-on-year as of the second quarter, supported by stable mass production and growing deliveries of its 46-series batteries.

For indiGOtech, the collaboration could provide access to advanced battery technology as it develops its commercial electric vehicle platform. The company is building an integrated ecosystem combining smart electric vehicles, charging infrastructure and mobility services, with a focus on reducing operating costs and improving fleet performance.

The upcoming Flow Ride and Flow Cargo models are expected to target commercial applications where range, charging speed, operating costs and vehicle utilisation are particularly important. The proposed battery supply agreement, however, remains subject to a final agreement as the current MoU is non-binding.

If completed, the partnership would mark another step towards the adoption of purpose-built electric commercial vehicles in the North American logistics, delivery and ride-hailing sectors.
