The upcoming Hyundai BAYON will offer 115 PS, manual and iVT gearbox options, and intelligent driving technologies, with bookings open for Rs 11,000.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is set to launch the Hyundai BAYON in India on October 26, 2026. Positioned as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle, the upcoming model will feature a 1.5-litre four-cylinder MPi petrol engine, two transmission options and several driver-focused technologies aimed at delivering a refined and responsive driving experience.
Bookings for the Hyundai BAYON are currently open through authorised Hyundai dealerships and the company’s official website, with a booking amount of Rs 11,000. Deliveries are scheduled to begin during the festive season, while detailed timelines will be announced at launch.
Hyundai BAYON Gets 1.5L Petrol Engine With 115 PS
The Hyundai BAYON will be powered by the company’s four-cylinder 1.5-litre MPi petrol engine, which produces 115 PS of maximum power and 143.8 Nm of peak torque. The engine is designed to deliver smooth and consistent performance across city commutes and highway journeys.
Hyundai says more than six lakh vehicles equipped with this engine have been sold in India since 2020, reflecting its established presence across the company’s product portfolio.
The automaker has focused on combining this familiar powertrain with intelligent transmission technologies and selectable driving modes to make the BAYON suitable for varied driving conditions.
Manual and iVT Gearbox Options
The Hyundai BAYON will be available with a six-speed manual transmission (6MT) and an Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT). The two options are intended to cater to different driving preferences, from drivers who prefer manual control to those seeking smoother operation in everyday traffic.
The iVT variant will feature Dash Boost Mode, designed to provide an immediate boost in responsiveness when quicker acceleration is required, particularly during overtaking manoeuvres.
It will also offer Sporty Drive Tech, which is engineered to deliver a more engaging and responsive acceleration experience. These technologies work alongside the transmission to adapt performance to changing driving situations.
Three Drive Modes and Paddle Shifters
The BAYON will feature steering-mounted paddle shifters, allowing drivers to control transmission response from behind the steering wheel. The SUV will also offer three selectable driving modes: Eco, Normal and Sport.
Eco Mode is designed to help maximise fuel efficiency, while Normal Mode balances performance and efficiency for everyday use. Sport Mode provides a more responsive, performance-oriented driving experience.
Drivers can switch between these modes using a button mounted on the steering wheel, allowing them to tailor vehicle behaviour to their preferences and road conditions.
Hyundai says the combination of the refined petrol engine, iVT technology and selectable driving modes is intended to make the BAYON equally suited to urban driving and highway travel.
