The new electric scooter gets two battery options offering claimed ranges of up to 105 km, 34-litre storage and connected features.

TVS Motor Company has unveiled the European-specification Orbiter electric scooter at EICMA 2026 in Milan, Italy. Designed for everyday urban mobility, the new electric scooter will be offered with a choice of 1.8 kWh and 3.1 kWh battery packs, delivering expected ranges of 70 km and 105 km, respectively, under the EU World Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC).

The Orbiter is one of three electric models presented by TVS at the event, alongside the M1-S electric maxi scooter and the TVS X. It is positioned as a practical option for city commuters, with an upright riding position, generous storage capacity and connected technology.

The electric scooter is powered by a hub-mounted brushless DC (BLDC) motor that produces a rated output of 1.85 kW and a peak output of 2.9 kW. Its claimed top speed is 45 kmph.

TVS will offer two lithium-ion battery options with NMC chemistry. The smaller 1.8 kWh battery is expected to deliver a range of 70 km, while the larger 3.1 kWh unit is claimed to offer up to 105 km on the EU WMTC cycle.

Both versions support charging through a household socket using a 550W charger. The company claims that the 1.8 kWh battery takes 2 hours and 39 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 per cent, while the 3.1 kWh version requires 4 hours and 33 minutes for the same charging level. An optional charging dock will also be available as an accessory.

TVS says the batteries are removable on both versions, although this feature is still subject to confirmation after homologation.

Design, Comfort And Practicality

The Orbiter features a minimalist design with clean, straight lines and bodywork developed with aerodynamic efficiency in mind. The lighting package includes a Crystal LED headlamp, LED turn indicators and an LED tail lamp. The European launch model will be offered in Lunar Grey and Stratos Blue.

The scooter has an upright riding position, a wide handlebar and a long, flat seat positioned 760 mm above the ground. It measures 1,855 mm in length and 728 mm in width, with a 1,330 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance stands at 165 mm.

A 34-litre under-seat storage compartment is among its key practical features. The Orbiter rides on a 14-inch alloy front wheel with a 90/80 tyre and a 12-inch rear wheel with a 90/90 tyre. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers.

Braking comes from a 220 mm front disc and a 130 mm rear drum, supported by a combined braking system (CBS). Cruise control, Automated Hill Hold and Reverse Parking Assist are also included as standard.

Connected Features And Safety Technology

The TVS Orbiter gets a five-inch colour LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and the company’s SmartXonnect system. An onboard LTE connection links the scooter to the TVS app on Android and iOS devices.

The connected functions include turn-by-turn navigation, incoming and missed call information, and Distance to Empty updates. LTE-enabled features include geofencing, crash and fall alerts, live vehicle tracking, anti-theft alerts, ride history and live battery charge and charging status information. Over-the-air software updates are also supported.

TVS Orbiter Launch Details

TVS Motor has not announced pricing, market-specific versions or on-sale dates for the European markets. These details will be revealed closer to launch.

The Orbiter has been developed, engineered and manufactured at the company’s research and development and manufacturing centre in India. TVS says the scooter has been developed using millions of kilometres of real-world riding data and has undergone 600 safety and structural stress tests.

The specifications and range figures remain provisional and are subject to homologation. The company expects EU whole-vehicle type approval to be available in 2027, while final homologated figures may change.
