Strongest-ever Formula E season gives Mahindra confidence to retain its winning driver line-up for the new-generation championship
Mahindra Racing has confirmed that Edoardo Mortara and Nyck de Vries will continue with the team for the 2026/27 FIA Formula E World Championship season, as the series enters its new GEN4 era. The continuation of the driver line-up comes after Mahindra Racing delivered its strongest Formula E campaign to date, finishing third in the Teams’ Championship and scoring a record 252 points.
Mortara and de Vries joined Mahindra Racing in 2023 and have played a key role in the team’s progress over the past three seasons. Together, they have secured two victories, 10 additional podium finishes and six pole positions during their time with the team.
The 2025/26 season proved particularly successful, with Mahindra matching its best-ever third-place finish in the Teams’ Championship while setting a new team record for points scored in a single season.

GEN4 brings new challenge
The 2026/27 season will mark the beginning of Formula E’s GEN4 era, with the championship introducing what is described as its fastest Formula E car to date.
Mahindra believes retaining both drivers will provide valuable continuity as the team adapts to the new technical regulations. Mortara and de Vries will enter their fourth season together with the team, bringing race-winning experience and an established working relationship into the new era.
For Edoardo Mortara, the upcoming campaign will be his 10th season in Formula E. The Swiss-Italian driver will have competed across all four generations of the championship when GEN4 makes its competitive debut.
Mortara has six Formula E victories and 18 podium finishes to his name. He finished runner-up in Season 7 and remained in mathematical title contention until the Season 12 finale, underlining his long-standing competitiveness in the series.
De Vries enters seventh Formula E season

Nyck de Vries will enter his seventh Formula E season. The Dutch driver joined the championship after winning the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2019 and went on to become Formula E World Drivers’ Champion in only his second season.
De Vries has recorded six Formula E victories and 15 podium finishes, with two of those wins coming during the 2025/26 campaign as he contributed significantly to Mahindra’s record-breaking season.
Mahindra Racing CEO and Team Principal Frederic Bertrand said the continuity of the driver pairing will be important as the team enters a completely new technical era. He noted that GEN4 will bring a steep learning curve, with the team’s priority being to understand the new car quickly and improve step by step.
Both Mortara and de Vries have also expressed their enthusiasm about continuing with Mahindra Racing and taking on the challenge presented by GEN4.
The 2026/27 FIA Formula E World Championship will begin in December in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, while pre-season testing is scheduled to take place from November 16-20 at Jarama, Spain. Mahindra Racing will therefore enter the new era with an unchanged driver line-up and the momentum of its strongest season yet.
