Upcoming luxury electric SUV to make its India debut on November 4; locally manufactured GLC 400 4MATIC deliveries to begin from mid-November 2026
Mercedes-Benz India has received more than 650 expressions of interest (EOIs) for the upcoming all-electric GLC within just 36 hours of opening registrations, signalling strong customer interest ahead of its official launch. The company began accepting EOIs on October 5, 2026, and will continue registrations as it prepares to introduce the electric SUV in India next month.
The strong initial response comes before the vehicle’s market launch, scheduled for November 4, 2026. Customer deliveries are expected to begin from mid-November, while EOIs will remain open for customers interested in the next batch of vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz will manufacture the GLC 400 4MATIC locally at its production facility in Chakan, Maharashtra. The model will become the first locally produced Mercedes-Benz SUV based on the brand’s new-generation electric vehicle platform in India.
Strong demand for luxury electric mobility

The response to the electric GLC highlights growing interest in premium electric vehicles among Indian luxury car buyers. Customers are increasingly looking for electric mobility solutions that combine sustainability with performance, advanced technology, comfort and everyday practicality.
Brendon Sissing, Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India, said the company was encouraged by the response, with more than 650 EOIs received even before the market launch. He added that the early interest reflects the strength of the Mercedes-Benz brand and the appeal of its products in India’s luxury electric vehicle segment.
The GLC nameplate already has an established presence in the luxury SUV market. The electric version aims to build on that legacy while introducing a new electric architecture and connected digital experiences.
Local manufacturing marks a strategic milestone
The upcoming electric GLC represents an important step in Mercedes-Benz India’s localisation strategy. Production at the company’s Chakan facility will make the electric SUV part of its locally manufactured portfolio.
Mercedes-Benz says the model combines the comfort, quality and sophistication associated with the brand with advanced electric-drive technology and digital features. The company is positioning it as a versatile luxury SUV for customers looking to transition to electric mobility without compromising on premium features and usability.
The local manufacturing programme also reflects the automaker’s continued investment in India as a key market within its global production network.
Bookings remain open ahead of launch
Customers can register their interest in the electric GLC through authorised Mercedes-Benz franchise partners and the company’s official India website. Those who have submitted EOIs will receive updates on their order status and indicative delivery timelines.
The SUV has also received international recognition, having been named German Premium Car of the Year 2026, adding to expectations ahead of its Indian debut.
With more than 650 EOIs secured in just 36 hours, Mercedes-Benz India will be looking to convert the early interest into confirmed orders when the electric GLC officially launches on November 4. The commencement of local production and deliveries from mid-November could further strengthen the brand’s position in India’s growing luxury electric vehicle market.
