Maruti Suzuki India reported record quarterly sales of 6.97 lakh units in Q2 FY2026-27, while net profit declined to Rs 2,415 crore amid higher commodity costs and lower non-operating income.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) reported its highest-ever quarterly sales volume of 6,96,654 units in the July-September quarter of FY2026-27, registering a 26.5% year-on-year growth. However, the company’s net profit declined 26.9% to Rs 2,414.9 crore from Rs 3,302.8 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, as higher commodity costs and a sharp decline in non-operating income weighed on earnings.

The automaker’s net sales reached a record Rs 50,615.5 crore during the quarter, compared with Rs 40,135.8 crore in Q2 FY2025-26. The results were approved by the company’s Board of Directors on October 27, 2026.

Domestic Sales Growth Led by SUVs and Small Cars

Maruti Suzuki recorded broad-based growth in the domestic passenger vehicle market during the quarter. Sales of small cars increased by 35.9% year-on-year, while SUV sales grew by 68.2%, supported by a strong response to recently introduced models.

The company’s domestic market share increased by 2.2 percentage points to 40.8%. Recent capacity additions helped it cater to rising demand, although demand continued to exceed supply. Maruti Suzuki reported network inventory of around 17 days and pending bookings of approximately 2,00,000 units at the end of September 2026.

Export sales stood at 1,08,119 units during the quarter, compared with 1,10,487 units in the same period last year. The company said it achieved these export volumes despite a challenging geopolitical situation.

Operating Profit Declines on Higher Commodity Costs

Maruti Suzuki’s operating profit, or earnings before interest and tax (EBIT), stood at Rs 2,803.7 crore in Q2 FY2026-27, down from Rs 3,382 crore in the year-ago quarter. The company attributed the decline to commodity price increases linked to the West Asia conflict.

Sequentially, however, operating profit increased by 10.8% compared with the first quarter of FY2026-27.

Non-operating income also declined sharply during the quarter due to mark-to-market losses on invested surplus. Consequently, net profit fell to Rs 2,414.9 crore from Rs 3,302.8 crore in Q2 FY2025-26, despite the record revenue and sales performance.

H1 FY2027 Sales and Revenue Reach New Highs

For the first half of FY2026-27, covering April to September 2026, Maruti Suzuki achieved its highest-ever half-yearly sales volume of 13,79,378 units, representing a 27.9% year-on-year increase.

The total comprised record domestic sales of 11,46,523 units and exports of 2,32,855 units. Net sales for the six-month period rose to Rs 1,00,574.6 crore from Rs 76,756.4 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

Despite the growth in sales and revenue, net profit for H1 FY2026-27 declined to Rs 5,767 crore from Rs 7,060.9 crore in H1 FY2025-26.

Maruti Suzuki to Establish Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence

Alongside its financial results, the company’s Board approved the incorporation of a Section 8 company to establish the Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence as a corporate social responsibility initiative.

The proposed centre will honour the contribution of the late Osamu Suzuki, who played a significant role in shaping India’s automotive manufacturing industry. It will promote Japanese manufacturing philosophy, culture and teachings, while supporting vocational training, future-ready technical skills and manufacturing excellence across India.
