Recognition highlights the company’s CSR efforts across education, healthcare, livelihood development, water conservation and rural development
JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. has received the Mahatma Award for Community Initiatives 2026, marking the fourth consecutive year the tyre manufacturer has earned the recognition. The award acknowledges the company’s sustained efforts towards community development, social welfare and creating a meaningful, long-term impact across communities.
The award was received by B. S. Dagar, Vice President – Industrial Relations, Environment, Health, Safety and Corporate Social Responsibility (IR, EHS & CSR) at JK Tyre, during a ceremony attended by prominent dignitaries, including Dr. Santrupt Mishra, Member of the Rajya Sabha; Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director of Konkan Railways; and Amit Sachdeva, known as CSR Man of India.
JK Tyre’s CSR initiatives benefit over 1.3 lakh people
JK Tyre’s corporate social responsibility programmes primarily focus on communities located around its manufacturing facilities. These initiatives aim to address local needs while supporting long-term socioeconomic development.
During FY2025-26, the company’s community programmes benefited more than 1.3 lakh people, taking their cumulative reach to over 1.5 million lives.
The programmes operate under the company’s Sarthi initiatives, which cover five key areas: education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, water conservation and rural development.
Shiksha Sarthi focuses on education, while Arogya Sarthi addresses healthcare needs. Ajivika Sarthi supports sustainable livelihoods through skill development and livelihood enhancement. Meanwhile, Jal-Vayu Sarthi focuses on water conservation and environmental priorities, and Vikas Sarthi works towards rural development.
Together, these initiatives are designed to support communities through interventions tailored to local requirements.
Management highlights commitment to social welfare
Commenting on the achievement, Anshuman Singhania, Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries, said receiving the Mahatma Award for the fourth consecutive year was a matter of pride for the company.
He highlighted community development as an integral part of JK Tyre’s approach to responsible and sustainable growth. He also acknowledged the contributions of the company’s CSR teams, implementation partners and communities involved in the initiatives.
The company said it would continue strengthening its community programmes to create inclusive and lasting social impact.
Mahatma Award recognises social impact
Established in 2021, the Mahatma Award recognises organisations, leaders and changemakers working towards meaningful social impact and a more sustainable and equitable future. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and values, the award celebrates initiatives that contribute to positive change across society.
The award is instituted by the Mahatma Foundation in collaboration with the Aditya Birla Group and Liveweek Group, recognising responsible initiatives across the private, public and development sectors.
JK Tyre’s wider sustainability focus
JK Tyre is among the world’s leading tyre manufacturers, operating 11 manufacturing facilities across India and Mexico, with a combined annual production capacity of approximately 35 million tyres.
The company has also invested in research and technology through its Raghupati Singhania Centre of Excellence in Mysore. Its broader sustainability efforts include environmental, social and governance initiatives, workplace safety and responsible manufacturing practices.
The fourth consecutive Mahatma Award reinforces JK Tyre’s continued focus on community development alongside its manufacturing and business operations, with its Sarthi programmes remaining central to its social welfare efforts.
