Company registers 274 electric buses in September, while H1FY26-27 registrations reach 892 units with around 24% market share
JBM Auto has strengthened its leadership in India’s electric bus market, registering the highest number of electric buses in the country in September 2026. According to Vahan data, the company registered 274 electric buses during the month, giving it a market share of 33%.
JBM Auto also maintained its leadership during the first half of FY2026-27. Between April and September 2026, the company registered 892 electric buses, translating into an estimated 24% market share. During the same six-month period, the overall Indian electric bus market recorded 3,771 registrations.
The latest performance builds on JBM Auto’s strong showing in FY2026, when it recorded the highest electric bus registrations in the country. The company attributes its continued momentum to its integrated electric mobility ecosystem, manufacturing capabilities and increasing adoption of its electric buses across public and institutional transportation.
Focus on zero-emission public transport
JBM Auto Vice Chairman and Managing Director Nishant Arya said the company’s continued leadership reflects the scale and execution strength of its electric mobility ecosystem.
The company says its purpose-built electric vehicle solutions focus on innovation, efficiency, safety and a passenger-first approach. JBM Auto has also aligned its long-term strategy with a Net Zero 2040 commitment, with the aim of making daily travel cleaner and more accessible.
The company’s growing presence in the electric bus market comes as public transportation operators across India increasingly look towards electrification to reduce emissions and operating costs.
20,000-bus annual manufacturing capacity
JBM Auto operates what it describes as the world’s largest dedicated integrated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, located in the NCR region.
The facility has an annual manufacturing capacity of 20,000 buses and brings together design, engineering, testing, validation and manufacturing operations under one roof. This integrated setup allows the company to develop and deploy electric mobility solutions at scale.
JBM Auto’s electric buses have so far covered more than 450 million e-kilometres, while serving over 2 billion passengers. The company says its electric bus operations have also helped avoid more than 1 billion kg of CO₂ emissions.
With 274 registrations in September alone and 892 units during the first half of FY2026-27, JBM Auto continues to maintain a strong position in India’s rapidly expanding electric bus market. The company will now look to build on this momentum as electrification gains further traction across public and institutional transportation.
