Order includes 420 9-metre and 420 12-metre AC electric buses for deployment with Delhi Transport Corporation and Delhi Transport Department
SWITCH Mobility has secured an order for 840 electric buses from Antony Road Transport Solutions under the Government of India’s PM E-Drive Scheme Phase I tender. The order comprises an equal mix of 420 9-metre and 420 12-metre AC electric buses, which will be deployed for passenger transportation in Delhi.
Under the CESL PM E-Drive Phase I tender, Antony Road Transport Solutions has been selected as the operator for Delhi. The electric buses supplied by SWITCH Mobility will be deployed with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and Transport Department, Delhi, supporting the electrification of the national capital’s public transport network.
The agreement between SWITCH Mobility and Antony Road Transport Solutions has been formalised, marking another major step towards the large-scale adoption of electric buses in Delhi.
9-metre and 12-metre buses for Delhi
The order includes two different bus sizes to address varied passenger transportation requirements across the city. The 9-metre and 12-metre AC electric buses are designed to combine operational efficiency, passenger comfort and connected technology.
The buses are based on SWITCH Mobility’s EiV platform, which incorporates modular battery configurations, advanced electric powertrains and regenerative braking. They also feature dual-gun fast charging technology, designed to reduce charging turnaround time and improve fleet utilisation.
Passenger-focused features include spacious interiors, comfortable seating, USB charging and low-floor access. Safety equipment includes Fire Detection and Suppression Systems and multi-level battery protection.
The buses are also equipped with SWITCH iON, the company’s connected vehicle platform, which provides real-time vehicle monitoring, diagnostics and fleet management capabilities. These technologies are intended to help operators improve vehicle reliability and operational efficiency.
Strengthening Delhi’s electric public transport
Ganesh Mani, CEO, SWITCH Mobility, said the company is pleased to partner with Antony Road Transport Solutions for the deployment of 840 electric buses across Delhi. He added that the order reflects growing confidence in electric mobility solutions for large-scale public transportation.
Antony Road Transport Solutions Director Jimmy John said the company’s long-term relationship with Ashok Leyland and its trust in the Hinduja Group were key factors behind the order. He said the partnership is expected to support the NCR region’s sustainable mobility journey.
The latest order strengthens SWITCH Mobility’s presence in India’s public transportation sector at a time when cities are increasingly adopting electric buses to reduce emissions and improve the efficiency of urban mobility.
Over 3,000 electric buses already deployed
SWITCH Mobility, part of the Hinduja Group, has already placed more than 3,000 electric buses on roads globally, which have collectively covered over 200 million kilometres.
The company also manufactures electric light commercial vehicles through its SWITCH IeV Series, with more than 3,000 electric LCVs currently on the road.
With the latest 840-bus order, SWITCH Mobility is set to further expand its footprint in Delhi’s public transportation ecosystem and contribute to the city’s transition towards cleaner, more sustainable mobility.
