New all-electric sports car is scheduled to enter production in 2028, while Tesla’s six-seat Model Y L now accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds

Tesla has opened reservations for its new Roadster electric sports car in India, alongside select international markets, while introducing a complimentary Acceleration Boost for the Model Y L electric SUV. The announcement, made on October 17, 2026, expands Tesla’s product offerings in India as the company continues to develop its electric vehicle portfolio and charging infrastructure.

The new Tesla Roadster is available for online reservations through the company’s official website. However, production is scheduled to begin in 2028, and the initial production run will comprise left-hand-drive vehicles only. Tesla has not announced an India-specific delivery timeline or confirmed when a right-hand-drive version could become available.

The company describes the sports car as a step beyond its existing Plaid performance models, incorporating SpaceX components to deliver what it calls a new dimension of driving performance.

While Tesla has opened reservations in India, the latest announcement does not specify the Roadster’s India price, detailed powertrain specifications, claimed driving range or expected delivery schedule for the Indian market.
