Domestic sales rise 10.9% while exports grow 10.4% as Hyundai closes September with its strongest monthly sales performance since entering India
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has recorded its highest-ever total monthly sales since inception, selling 77,916 units in September 2026. The company registered a 10.8% year-on-year growth, surpassing its previous monthly sales record achieved in July 2026.
Hyundai’s September performance was supported by growth in both the domestic and export markets. The company sold 57,166 units in India, representing a 10.9% YoY increase, while exports stood at 20,750 units, up 10.4% YoY.
The balanced growth across the two markets helped Hyundai achieve its new monthly sales record, highlighting continued demand for its product portfolio in India as well as international markets.
Hyundai expects strong festive season demand
Commenting on the performance, Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, said the company was delighted to close September with its highest-ever monthly sales of 77,916 units and double-digit year-on-year growth.
He also highlighted the company’s expectation of sustained customer demand during the upcoming festive season. Hyundai believes the opening of bookings for the Hyundai BAYON, its upcoming all-new nameplate for the Indian market, will further support customer interest.
The September numbers come at an important time for the Indian automotive industry, with the festive period typically contributing significantly to vehicle sales. Hyundai’s double-digit growth in both domestic sales and exports gives the company positive momentum heading into the final months of 2026.
BAYON bookings add to Hyundai’s upcoming product activity
Hyundai has also begun bookings for the BAYON, which the company describes as an upcoming all-new nameplate for India. While the sales release does not provide further details about the upcoming model, its booking opening is expected to add another product to Hyundai’s portfolio as the company enters the festive season.
With 77,916 units sold in September, Hyundai has established a new benchmark for its monthly sales in India. The company will now look to maintain this momentum through the festive season, supported by strong domestic demand, exports and its upcoming product activity.
