The new dual-sport helmet is available in three versions with 18 colour options, ECE 22.06, DOT and ISI certifications, and a Pinlock 70 lens as standard in India.
SMK Helmets has launched its much-anticipated Ares dual-sport helmet in India, with prices starting at Rs 6,950. The new helmet is offered in three versions – Ares Solid, Ares Claw and Ares Infinity – with six colour options for each variant. The range is available in sizes XS to XXL through SMK’s authorised dealer network.
The Ares had already generated considerable interest in the company’s export markets before being showcased at India Bike Week. SMK says it received more than 30 enquiries daily about the helmet ahead of its official launch, making it one of the most eagerly awaited products in the brand’s history.
SMK Ares Available In Three Versions
The Ares Solid is offered in six single-tone colours: white, gloss black, matte black, Nardo grey, titanium and desert storm tan.
The Ares Claw features a new graphic design with angular detailing and is available in six colour combinations. These include three gloss white-and-black base options with red, blue or tricolour accents, along with three matte black versions featuring neon, grey-white or olive detailing.
The Ares Infinity gets a different graphic treatment based on sweeping diagonal shapes. It is available in four gloss colourways featuring blue, red, orange and neon-accented black, along with two matte black options with white or grey detailing.
Dual-Sport Design With Multiple Visor Options
All three versions share the same dual-sport layout, combining a detachable sun peak for off-road riding, a main visor for road use and an integrated sun visor. The main visor features a scratch-resistant finish and a one-touch quick-release mechanism.
SMK also highlights an extra-wide field of vision, which it says is optically correct. The combination is intended to make the helmet suitable for both daily commuting and weekend rides on varied terrain.
Shell Construction, Safety And Comfort Features
The SMK Ares uses an EIRT (Energy Impact Resistant Thermoplastic) outer shell paired with a multi-density EPS liner. It meets ECE 22.06, DOT and ISI certification standards.
The helmet is developed using two separate shell sizes, allowing the shell dimensions to be proportioned more appropriately across different helmet sizes. It also gets an emergency quick-release cheek pad system designed to help first responders remove the helmet more quickly in the event of an accident.
For the Indian market, the Ares comes with a Pinlock 70 lens fitted as standard. The same lens is sold separately in SMK’s export markets.
Other features include a removable and washable inner liner with moisture-wicking and antistatic properties, eyeglass-friendly grooves and cheek pads designed for longer rides. Buyers can choose between a double D-ring fastening system and a stainless steel quick-release buckle.
The helmet also gets an internal switch for operating the chin vent, allowing riders to adjust airflow without reaching around a chin-mounted action camera. A removable wind protector, breath deflector, nose deflector and speaker pockets are also included.
The Ares weighs 1,575 grams in sizes XS to M and 1,625 grams in sizes L to XXL, with a tolerance of plus or minus 50 grams.
SMK Ares Price And Availability
The SMK Ares Solid is priced at Rs 6,950, while the Ares Claw and Ares Infinity versions cost Rs 7,250 each. All prices are MRP and inclusive of taxes.
The three versions are available in six colour options each, with gloss and matte finishes, and sizes ranging from XS to XXL. Customers can purchase the helmets through SMK’s authorised dealers, while online availability will be announced by the brand at a later date.
Commenting on the launch, Sidhartha Bhushan Khurana, Managing Director and CEO of SMK, said the company had been receiving enquiries about the Ares almost every day since its initial showcase. He added that the helmet was developed for riders looking for a single product that could handle daily commutes as well as weekend rides on tougher terrain.
